completely preventable with proper vaccination schedules, help us protect your horse!
(a) TETANUS from 3 months – 2 doses 4 weeks apart *
(b) STRANGLES from 3 months of age – 3 doses – 2 weeks apart
(c) EQUINE HERPES – from 3 months of age – 2 doses - 4 weeks apart
(d) SALMONELLA – 2 doses – 4 weeks apart – 2nd 2 weeks prior to weaning
LOW INTERACTION HORSE
(a) TETANUS 1 dose 12 months after 2nd *

COMPETITIVE / RACING HORSE
(a) TETANUS 1 dose annually
(b) STRANGLES 1 dose annually ( combined with tetanus)
(c) EQUINE HERPES -1 dose every 6 months
BREEDING HORSE esp MARES
(a) TETANUS 1 dose annually
(b) STRANGLES 1 dose every 6 months
(c) EQUINE HERPES 1dose at 5, 7 & 9 months of pregnancy
(d) SALMONELLA 1 dose 4-6 weeks prior to foaling**
(e) ROTAVIRUS – 1 dose 1 month prior to foaling***
*Dose 12 months after 2nd dose prior to 12 months of age should give 5 years of immunity – valuable horses can receive a booster at this stage.
**Recommended by this practice.
*** Must have had a primary vaccination during a previous pregnancy.
